Calacatta Dreams:
Inside the All-Marble Bathroom and How to Recreate It
Veronica
There are bathrooms designed for function, and then there are bathrooms that feel like a quiet escape. This primary bath is the latter… wrapped entirely in Calacatta marble, with continuous slabs running from the tub deck up the wall and across the surround, the veining flowing through the space in one unbroken sweep. A frameless glass shower keeps the layout open and uncluttered and polished chrome fixtures add a clean contrast. It's a room that doesn't need much else. A white orchid on the tub ledge, a flicker of candlelight, and it's done.
Recreating this look starts with one key decision: slab over tile. Large-format Calacatta marble (or a quality porcelain alternative) is what gives the space its calm, cohesive feeling. If the budget allows, book-matching the slabs across the tub surround so the veining mirrors itself is the detail that takes it from pretty to considered. From there, keep the supporting elements simple: a white shaker vanity with polished nickel or chrome hardware, a frameless mirror that doesn't compete, and soft, plush towels folded neatly nearby. Underfoot, a natural fiber or low-pile rug adds just enough texture to keep the room from feeling cold. The restraint is intentional. When the stone is this beautiful, everything else is just there to get out of its way.
